Seeing the wood for the trees
Following on from yesterday’s dark, mystical, nighttime image of the lit trees bordering the path to a restaurant, I have another in complete contrast. The only similarity is that both are bordered by trees and there’s a pathway in the middle. I’ve realised how much I like an avenue of trees and I think most people do. Some might find it scary, especially if it’s dark and there are no lights to guide the way. There’s always the fear that something could be lurking, to give you an edge of nervousness. Mostly though, especially in the daytime, a path bordered by trees gives a sense of seclusion, of peace and of calmness.
I hadn’t walked this path before and as I took the photo I had a spirit of adventure. I roughly knew where the path might go. This is on the Isle of Dogs after all which I know pretty well. But… I wasn’t quite sure. I love walking where I haven’t walked before. It makes me feel more alive, even if it’s a normal everyday scene to anyone who already knows it well. After all, it will never be a first for ME again.
This was part of my walking the Isle of Dogs project which I’ve paused while coronavirus rates have been so high and we’ve been advised not to go out unless absolutely necessary. Rates seems to be falling now, around this area anyway, and I’m confident I can move around without coming into contact with anyone. So, all being well, I’m going to carry on with my project very soon. I’m keen to get going again because while I’ve been indoors I’ve been dreaming about a mixed media artwork which would be the culmination of this project. This will be something very new for me so I’m excited to see if I can make my vision a reality. It’s all in the execution as they say.
Oh well, enough of dreaming for now. I’m still continuing with my efforts to move all of my social media and accounts into my one name of Loren Brand and I still have quite a few tasks to do.
