Lockdown photography inspiration

It’s been eight weeks now since we’ve been indoors, save for a few walks in our communal gardens and one very short trip to the postbox. Funnily enough, in all that time, I’ve never run out of ways to improve my photography. If anything, I’ve been busier than ever. Firstly, there’s been my YouTube videos - two published during lockdown and another currently being worked on. Secondly, there’s been my ongoing training. Lots of people and organisations have been making free courses available. Two I’ve particularly enjoyed were Hollie Rumman’s “Grow With Video Beta Course” and a free course from LinkedIn called “Real Estate Photography”. Thirdly, there’s been Zoom meetups with photography groups to keep me inspired and fourthly, it’s given me time to go back to my books and pickup some new photo editing skills.

I’ve also been getting to know my view from the window very well. They say that as an artist, the more you look, the more you see. It’s true in this case. This morning I noticed that a gas works structure which is almost invisible at some times of the day lights up pale pink in certain morning lights.

This photo today was taken last night at sunset. The Shard has been lit in blue to thank the NHS and carers for weeks now and on Thursday’s the Eye lights up in blue as well. It’s a beautiful sight.

This Thursday I clapped especially hard because I had been thinking about how difficult it must be to work constantly in protective clothing. How stifling and constricted! Even worse though is the thought that some workers don’t have the correct protective clothing. So, the blue light we see from our window is a powerful reminder.
