Connected by Light - Beautiful Show at Canary Wharf
Right - change of plan! I’m still due to show the map and more images from Day 8 of my Isle of Dogs challenge but I’m impatient and I want to jump ahead a little bit here because over the past two days I’ve been in Canary Wharf looking at the Connected by Light art show. They’re not calling it a festival this year for obvious coronavirus reasons so everything is outside and designed to be easily seen when you’re socially distanced.
It officially opened last night (but I had a preview of some pieces the previous night when they were lit early) and will be open until the 27th of February.
I’ve seen 4 of the 9 official pieces in the show so far and they’re stunning. You definitely will not be disappointed. What makes a walk around this area so special is that there aren’t only these 9 pieces to see. Lots of light artworks from previous festivals have become permanent additions on the estate and there’s something beautiful to see at every turn. If you need a cheerful and colourful antidote to the cold, grey, foggy weather we’ve had over the past weeks - this is it!
When I’m taking photos I’m always looking for the images that elicit a Wow! Easier said than done but so satisfying when it happens. These light artwork pieces were getting a Wow! from me and this one in my image today in particular. You know when you see something and give a little involuntary gasp of wonder because it’s full-on surprised you - this was it for me! It’s titled Colour Cubed and the artist is Mandy Lights. You can find it on Wren Landing.
What made this photo stand out for me were the two excited children on the railings trying to get a better look.
