Strolling by the Thames
Day 7 of my photography/walking challenge in the Isle of Dogs
Today I went for a short stroll by the Thames. I could have spent a lot longer there taking photos because there was so much to see and a constantly changing flow of boats. I had to get back home quickly though because, just before I left, a reminder popped up for a webinar I’d signed up for last week. It was about Instagram so I didn’t want to miss it because anyone who knows me knows I love Instagram.
The boats on the river today were all working boats. It’s been very rare to see a pleasure boat since March and once again they’ve stopped completely. Even the Thames Clippers have ground to a halt apart from (training/safety) exercises.
From the map below you can see the area I was in today and within it on the Isle of Dogs riverbank is the now disused West India Pier. On the other side of the river is Surrey Quays farm and a small beach. There are also stunning views of the City of London buildings from here. Today there was a bit of brightness in the sky which was nice but it was very changeable as you can see from one of my photos with a dramatic cloud hovering above.
The shot I would have liked to take today was one I just wasn’t ready for. Two swans flew past quite low over the river. It’s a lovely sight to see them in flight though.
I’ve added more photos today so I’ll chat less.
