First day out of London since lockdown - it felt great

Earlier this week we drove down to Kent to visit Hole Park Gardens. It’s always a nice place to be. So peaceful and it seems there’s always a new feature to see. I’ve been going there since before I started to study photography and it’s interesting to see how my photos change. What I love about photography is how I’m now constantly discovering new ways of seeing things. On this trip I had symmetry on my mind and I took as many symmetrical photos as I could see. The gardens are gorgeous and make this easy because they have a really good mix of formal and wild areas. I really liked the result and this is something I’ll be trying a lot more often.

If you take photos or you’re buying photos for your business, looking for symmetry is always a good way to switch things up a bit. I’ve recently been watching my way through Wes Anderson films and I love the framing of his scenes. Especially the symmetrical ones such as in the Grand Budapest Hotel (what a feast for the eyes!) They’re really inspirational! I haven’t watched all of them yet so I’m looking forward to discovering what else they’re going to reveal.

I like to tell myself that this image has a touch of one of Wes Anderson’s scenes about it.
