City Lights and Dark Nights

City lights and dark nights are a dream made in heaven (or in the factories and workshops producing neon!). This winter there are so many things photographers can’t do. Events photography being one of them. Still, socially distanced night photography is very much on the cards and it’s something I’ll be doing a lot of during the coming months. I’ll be using this period to give free rein to my creativity and I’ve started to work on an idea for a set of prints.

This photo was taken at South Quay DLR station looking towards the Novotel Hotel tower. At the foot of the photo is a speed swipe of the neon light installation outside the station. It really brightens up the area and must be so welcoming to come home to in these dark, colder nights. The best part of this Novotel is the top. Three floors fitting in bars, a restaurant and a roof terrace. All with amazing views! I haven’t been there since lockdown started in March but I definitely am looking forward to going there again sometime. The decor is fab but one of the best things about it is the wonderful scent (smells very welcoming and expensive) and the music.
